Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

Q – How high should I mount the Outdoor Lights around my front door?
A – Approximately 66 inches above the bottom of the door, slightly above eye level.

Q – How do I determine the size of my outdoor wall lights?
A – There is no set rule, and it really depends on the height of your front entrance. Generally, you want your lights to be 1/5 to 1/6 of the entrance height.

Q – How do I determine the proper size chandelier over my dining room table?
A – Add the length and width dimensions of the room. Example: the room dimensions are 12 x 14, added together this equals 26, therefore the chandelier should be approximately 26” in diameter.

Q – How high off the table should I hang a chandelier?
A – The bottom of the chandelier should be no lower than 30” above the table top.

Q – How do I determine the proper size light fixture for my foyer?
A – The same formula applies for the foyer as in the dining room. Add the dimensions of the area together and convert to inches. Example: An 8 x 10 ft foyer needs about an 18” fixture.

Q – How do I determine the proper height of my foyer light?
A – The bottom of the light fixture should be at least 7 feet from the floor. This may mean you need a flush mount or a semi-flush. Also, if there is a window above the front door center the chandelier so it can be seen from the outside.

Q – How do I prepare when selecting new lighting for my home?
A – First of all, know your budget. Next, know your color scheme and your style preference. Look for pictures from magazines that reflect your taste, and bring in color chips and fabric swatches for any areas that you are redecorating.
